Brooklyn: 18 Months

Brooklyn is the greatest combination of sweetness and sass and always has a little twinkle in her eye. It's been such a joy for us to watch her personality really take shape these last few months. She has a natural nurturing ability and is always hugging and kissing her dolls and stuffed animals. She loves any toy that plays music and loves to shake her little bum to the beat. Calling people on her pretend phone is her favorite and she is always looking for any chance to accessorize with shoes, boots or hats.

And holy smokes, is she a talker! She has always been quick to pick up on words and will mimic whatever you say to her. Today I heard her yell "mom, where are ya?" as clear as day and it stopped me in my tracks! I had to walk over to make sure it wasn't Brody who had said it. She is incredibly bright and can communicate what she wants amazingly well, which has been so nice for everyone.

Walking was a bit of a challenge for Brooklyn but she picked it up just weeks before turning 18 months. I still love the novelty of watching her stroll casually around the house and chasing Brody around the kitchen. She is loving the new-found freedom and insists on walking everywhere we go.

She loves being in the middle of the action, but will usually sit quietly on your lap sucking her thumb once she is there. She had a rough patch with sleeping these past couple of months and we think it's just because she just doesn't like being alone. We finally have her back on a good schedule again but she would snuggle up right next to you all night if we'd let her.

The attitude has come out in this girl the past few months, which she really needs to stand up to the physical force that is her brother. He would suffocate her with love if he could and is sometimes a lot of times too vigorous for her liking, but she has learned to express herself well and sure know how to put him in his place.

We love you so much, sweet girl. Keep growing healthy and strong and always know how much we love you!

Brooklyn-you are beautiful! And what a great girl she is! I can't believe how alike she and Elouise sound, these are all the things I would say about my girl, except Brooklyn sounds like she can take a walloping better than Lou can, haha!
