Brody Turns Three

Just a few days in and three is already my favorite age of Brody's so far. This has been a year of such progress for him in so many ways.

Loving, sensitive, physical and energetic are Brody's stand out qualities. He will be giving you hugs and kisses while telling you how much he loves you one minute then tackling you and running circles around you the next. He has grown into his role as big brother and is always the first to tell us when Brooklyn is sad or crying and trying to bring her something to help her feel better (although 9 times out of 10 it is his over-enthusiastic love that caused the crying in the first place. We're working on that...) But he has a natural awareness for his and others' emotions and is always asking me if I'm mad or tired (I guess I need to work on showing him that I'm happy more often?!) His enthusiasm for life is unique and when he's excited about something will run around yelling "this is AMAZING!"

His communication has skyrocketed these past 6 months and he says some pretty great things! I especially love the way he says "hepticopter" (helicopter), how he tells us how "crinkly" (wrinkly) his hands are when he gets out of the tub, and how he calls his little sister "Blooklyn." It's the most endearing thing to lay in bed with him at night as he lists the things he's grateful for. "Thank you for the toys, thank you for rocks, thank you for blue, thank you for fingers, thank you for Brody's room, thank you for Mulan, thank you for Pocahontas, thank you for Lion King, thank you for giant rocks, thank you for giant rainbows..." Oh, that boy!

Up until just recently Brody had no interest in sitting longer than a minute or two to do any sort of activity, but lately he's developed a love for drawing and it is always so much fun to see what he creates. He insists on listening to music most hours of the day and I love listening to him sing along to the songs.

Potty training has been a no-go so far and has left us all in tears more than once. We've decided to hold off and give it another try in a few months with hopes that it will go better the next time around.

Eric took the day of Brody's birthday off work so we could celebrate togetber all day. We packed in lots of fun at the Mall of America, Chick-Fil-A, and the Children's Museum. We topped the day off with a family party and lots of fun presents to open. Over the weekend we had a small party at Good Times Park and Brody had the time of his life running around and playing with all his friends!

Happy birthday, sweet boy! We love you so very much and are so proud of you and the good choices you make. You make us so happy and we are forever grateful to be your parents.
