Since we know very little about the area, we decided that we would rent for a year or two instead of buying a house right away. We sort of assumed it wouldn't be too difficult of a task to find a place to rent in a couple of days but decided to stay five days just in case, plus then we figured we'd have some time to relax a little bit in our new city.
Boy were we wrong! We completely underestimated how hard it would be to find someplace! We spent all day on each of the days making calls and viewing dozens of places all over the city, and we just couldn't find the right place in the right area. Finally the last day of the trip, we found a place that we really liked and that was in an area close to Eric's work. We still hadn't signed a lease by the time we left, but thankfully everything went smoothly and we were able to get things confirmed a couple of days after we got home.
Although it didn't turn out to be the relaxing trip we'd hoped, Eric and I had a lot of fun spending so much time with one another and working at accomplishing a goal together. Plus, we were able to squeeze in a few late-night movies and other things that made the trip lots of fun. Most importantly, we feel really good about the place we found and are excited to start our new life in Minneapolis!

Of course we missed this guy like crazy, but he had the time of his life hanging out with Grandma, Grandpa and all of his aunts! |
