Oh, The Joys of Traveling...

Wisconsin, here we come!

Our day of traveling to Wisconsin for Christmas was a tough one. We were so excited to go out and spend the holiday with Eric's family, especially because we do not get to see them very much with living so far away. We left our house at 6:30 in the morning bushy tailed and bright-eyed and made it to the airport in plenty of time for our 9:20 flight.

We boarded our first flight excited to be on our way. To our great dismay, there was maintenance that needed to be done to our plane so we all had to deboard. We were worried about making our connecting flight in Denver, but the Denver airport had closed for a couple of hours due to weather, so the agent told us that we would make our connecting flight since all flights coming in and going out had been delayed. Three hours after we were supposed to leave, we took off for Denver.

We landed ready to rush to the gate to make our flight to Madison. Come to find out our flight had left 10 minutes before we landed. Drats. So off to the Frontier Customer Service desk we went. We couldn't believe our eyes when we saw how long the line was! It turns out everyone was having a nightmare of a travel day. We ended up standing in line for for 2 and a half hours. While we were waiting in line we called the customer service number, but all they were able to do was book us on a flight into Madison the next day. We knew this wouldn't work because a huge snow storm was coming into Madison that night that was going to shut down the airport.

Three things saved us that day:
  1. To say that Brody was a trooper that day would be an understatement. He was the best behaved, most calm and happy baby I could have ever prayed and hoped for. He was smiling at everyone and was as happy as can be. He was the one who kept us going through that long hard day.
  2. Once we got to the front of the customer service line, the woman that helped us was seriously an angel. She was able to rebook us onto a flight that evening going into Milwaukee AND got all three of our checked bags sent to Milwaukee as well. Heaven sent, I tell you!
  3. Eric's dad drove an hour and a half extra to pick us up from the Milwaukee airport. The huge snow storm that came in that night hit us as we were driving back and took us three times as long as it should have. He is a saint!
We finally pulled into Eric's parents' driveway at 2 in the morning. Our heads hitting the pillows that night had never felt so good. Even though there were quite a few bumps along the way, we are so grateful that we were able to make it there safe and for the awesome time we had while we were there!

Trying to entertain ourselves during our 6 hour visit at the Denver Airport. We discovered the family bathroom as our saving grace in the future whenever we need a place of rest and refuge in an airport!
At a dead stop on the freeway in Wisconsin for 2 hours due to an accident with the heavy snowfall.
What a storm!
Bunkering down inside while the snow kept falling.
All bundled up and ready to go out in the snow!
