It's always so interesting going to a completely new place where you don't know anyone and so much is unknown. They put us up in a nice hotel downtown and we were able to explore the city a little bit before we had to meet up with the company for dinner. We had a riot at dinner than night laughing and joking with our table. There were about 8 other students they offered internships to from schools all around the country that we were able to get to know plus dozens of current employees that we were able to meet and ask questions to.It was a really fun night and a really good dinner too.
The next day we had the chance to take a tour of the city and of the business's campus, and we loved every minute of it. They also took us by the corporate housing they put their interns up in for the summer, and it was such an awesome place in a really cool location. The whole city seems incredibly family oriented, and it's a huge baseball town which of course Eric LOVES.
Overall, we had an amazing trip and we both left feeling really good about the whole thing. The internship will last 12 weeks starting next May, which will present a tricky situation with me going back to work after maternity leave, but we will have to figure it out as it comes. The hope is that the company will offer Eric a job when he's done with school if they like the work he does as an intern during the summer, so it was really a neat thing to be able to both go out there and feel so good about things. But for now, we are taking it one step at a time and just enjoying the fact that he will be going somewhere so amazing for his internship.
