Eric Turns 30

We had such a fun weekend celebrating Eric's 30th birthday! I tried and tried to think of a plan worthy of such a significant birthday that he would always remember. I finally decided to just go all out and make a whole weekend out of it.

After all, you only turn 30 once, right?

We started the morning off with colorful birthday pancakes before Eric was off to do his yearly birthday tradition- he walks around a bookstore while reflecting on his life over the past year then buys himself a new book. After that and a relaxing afternoon, we dropped Brody Man off at my parent's house because my amazing mom had offered to watch him for the night. It was so hard to leave him, but knowing that my mom was watching him and that we were close by made it a lot easier. We started the night off with dinner at Ruth's Chris which was absolutely amazing. Neither of us had ever been there so it was even more fun to experience such deliciousness together. We ate way too much and practically rolled ourselves out of the restaurant then continued our night of luxury by checking into our room at the beautiful Grand America. We had both been in the lobby before but had never stayed there, and it was absolutely beautiful! We had a fun time pretending we were rich for a day and enjoying all of the luxury that comes with it. We got a full night's sleep, which neither of us had really had in a couple of months, and got to sleep in which was amazing all in itself. We got room service for breakfast- absolutely delicious- and then Eric went and enjoyed a relaxing birthday massage. What a fun time!

We left our pretend life of luxury behind and had a more laid back night on Saturday filled with friends, games and buffalo wings. Does it get much better than that? For Eric, I would say it does not. We had lots of fun and Brody was a trooper and slept the entire time. So awesome.

The birthday weekend ended with Suday dinner at my parent's house with the fam. It was Taylor's birthday on Saturday, so we had fun celebrating her birthday too. My baby sister is 14- how did this happen?!

Such a fun weekend. I am so grateful for the wonderful man and husband Eric is. I always knew how hard working and motivated he was, but I have been amazed as I've watched how hard he's worked at school this year. I don't think he's had over 5 hours of sleep a night this whole year because he is so busy studying all the time. Even with how busy he's been, he has still somehow found a way to make me and now Brody such a huge priority in his life. He spends time with us each day, knowing it means he'll have to stay up later and get less sleep. I have appreciated that so much and feel so loved every single day. There is not a day that passes that Eric does not ask if there's anything he can do for me and puts my needs before his own, and I feel so blessed and grateful for him.

Here's to hoping for an amazing 31st year of life, old man! Love you!
